Inspired by tapestry - this series of models incorporates the abstract anatomy of the loom. Sketch models inspired by the works of Herman Miller to convey the abstract interpretation of tapestry were created as a rapid fire project to initiate us into fourth year studio working again after working for two years at home.
This quick making process allowed us to abstract forms and highlight sections which allow us to develop a sculpture to then influence an exhibition design for the Verdant Works. The sculpture influencing the exhibition design is an interactive piece to be moved by the viewer to gain a clearer view of the artworks.
Inspired by Dundee’s industrial history, the exhibition displays the tapestries on a pulley system as an interactive element. The frame is made from scaffolding which is readily available therefore not requiring custom-made parts.
